Troubleshooting

Fixes for the problems that come up most — 404s, missing styles, blank blocks, mail, and maps.

Try these first

Four steps solve a surprising share of reports:

1. Settings → Permalinks → Save Changes — re-registers browse routes.
2. Elementor → Tools → Regenerate CSS & Data — rebuilds generated stylesheets.
3. Clear every cache — hosting, CDN, cache plugin, browser hard refresh.
4. Confirm the theme and EstatePoint Core are on matching versions and both active.

Browse and URLs

/properties/map/ or /properties/rows/ returns 404. Flush permalinks (step 1). If it persists, another plugin registers a conflicting rewrite — deactivate plugins one at a time to find it.

The property archive shows nothing. Check that listings are Published, and that the archive is not filtered by a term with no listings. On a fresh site, sample listings only exist after demo import.

Filters show no options. Chips only list terms that have listings attached. Assign categories, types, statuses, and locations to your listings.

A filter returns nothing when it should. Confirm the listings carry the value — bedroom filters read the Bedrooms field, not the description.

Layout and styling

The site looks unstyled after an update or import. Regenerate Elementor CSS and clear caches. If a caching plugin serves stale CSS, purge it explicitly.

A layout change in Theme Options does nothing. The template owns the structure. Open the bound template from the binding card with Edit in Elementor and change it there.

A template is broken beyond repair. Use Restore default template on the binding card in Theme Options → Property or Blog, or re-run Install / update site templates on the Demo Import screen for the header, footer, or 404.

White strip between the header and the hero. The header only overlays the first band when that band is a hero widget with Header overlay on. Check that the hero is the first top-level element on the page.

It looks right in the Elementor editor but wrong on the live page — or the reverse. The editor renders inside an iframe with its own chrome. Always trust the front end. Property blocks show placeholders in the editor because there is no listing in context.

Custom CSS has no effect. Theme rules can be more specific. Prefer the widget’s Style tab; when you must write CSS, match the full selector chain rather than reaching for !important.

Listings

A listing does not appear on the map. It has no coordinates. Open Listing details → Address & map and drop the pin.

Editor fields are missing. The Listing details panel needs Advanced Custom Fields active. Fields also change with Property category — land listings have no bedrooms field by design.

A property type is missing from the picker. Set Show for categories on that term under Properties → Property Types.

A listing vanished from the site. Check its Listing expiry date — expired listings move to draft automatically. Clear the date and republish.

The price shows Price on request. Either the toggle is on, or the price is empty or zero.

Prices sort strangely across currencies. Set the Base currency and exchange rates under Theme Options → Currency & FX, then re-save an affected listing.

Email

Inquiry emails never arrive. WordPress mail on shared hosting is unreliable. Install an SMTP plugin and send through a real mail service, then re-test.

They arrive at the wrong address. Check the listing’s Assigned consultant, then that consultant’s Office inbox email, then the fallback under Settings → General → Listing inquiry routing (agency inbox).

Nothing is stored and nothing is sent. Open the browser console on the listing page. A JavaScript error, or a security plugin blocking the REST request, stops submission before it starts.

“Too many requests.” The rate limit — five submissions per minute per IP. Expected while testing; wait a minute.

Demo import

Buttons are disabled or locked. Elementor, ACF, and EstatePoint Core must be active. If licensing is enabled on your build, activate your purchase code first.

Images did not import. Your host blocks outbound HTTP. Allow it and re-run the listings installer, or replace media manually.

Import times out. Raise max_execution_time and PHP memory, then run the installers one at a time rather than in a rush.

Updates

Widgets disappeared after an update. The theme and Core are on mismatched versions. Update both, then regenerate Elementor CSS.

Menus are empty after switching to the child theme. Menu locations are per theme. Reassign under Appearance → Menus → Manage Locations.

Isolating a conflict

When something behaves strangely and none of the above applies:

1. Deactivate non-essential plugins, keeping Elementor, ACF, and EstatePoint Core.
2. Retest. If it is fixed, reactivate one at a time until it breaks again.
3. If it persists with only the required plugins, note the exact URL, what you expected, what happened, and any browser console errors.
