Listings
Listing media
Featured image, gallery, floor plans, video, virtual tours, documents — and how media is cleaned up.
Featured image vs gallery
They are different jobs.
| Used for | |
|---|---|
| Featured image | The card thumbnail in archives, homepage grids, map pin cards, related listings, and search results |
| Photos & gallery | The photo gallery on the listing page |
Always set a featured image. A listing without one shows a placeholder wherever it is referenced.
Listing card crop sets the focal point for card thumbnails, so a portrait photo keeps its subject when a wide card crops it.
Gallery
Press Manage Gallery in the Photos & gallery panel to add images, then drag thumbnails to reorder. The first gallery image is the one visitors see first on the listing page.
Recommended: landscape photos at 1600px wide or more, JPEG, compressed before upload. WordPress generates the smaller sizes it needs.
Floor plans
In Listing details → Video, plans & tour, each floor plan row takes an image plus Floor name, Size m², Bedrooms, and Bathrooms. The listing page renders them as a set visitors can step through.
Available on residential and commercial listings.
Video and virtual tour
| Field | Accepts |
|---|---|
| Video URL | A YouTube or Vimeo link, or a direct video file URL |
| Virtual tour URL | A 3D tour embed link |
Both render through the Property Video / Virtual Tour block on the listing page. Leave one empty and only the other card appears.
Documents
Listing documents takes up to eight files — floor plan PDFs, energy certificates, brochures — each with a Link label shown on the button. They render through the Property Downloads block.
Do not upload anything you would not publish: these links are public, with no login check.
Media cleanup
EstatePoint removes orphaned listing media for you. When you remove a photo from a gallery, a floor plan, a document, or a featured image, and no other listing uses that attachment, it is deleted from the Media Library. Trashing or deleting a listing purges its bound media the same way.
This keeps a site with hundreds of listings from accumulating thousands of unreferenced files. If you deliberately share one image across a listing and a page, the shared attachment survives — the check looks for other users first.
If your workflow depends on keeping uploads after removing them from a listing, a developer can disable the purge with the
estatepoint_property_media_purge_enabledfilter. See Developer reference.
Location cover images
Location terms carry their own Cover image, used by the Featured Locations block and location cards. Set it on the term under Properties → Locations, not on a listing.
Performance notes
- Compress before upload. A twelve-photo gallery of 5 MB originals is a slow listing page no caching plugin fixes.
- Turn on Theme Options → Images → WebP image sizes to add a WebP copy of every size WordPress generates. Your originals are untouched, and browsers that cannot read WebP still get the original format.
- Galleries and carousels load lazily, so photo count affects page weight far less than photo size does.
