Listing expiry & open house

Retire listings automatically, and publish open-house events with badges and a browse filter.

Listing expiry

Set Listing expiry on a listing (in Listing details → Consultant & marketing) and a daily job takes it off the site once that date passes:

  1. The listing moves to draft.
  2. It is removed from the homepage pinned list.
  3. Its URL returns 404 for visitors; editors can still open it.
  4. An email goes out, if expiry emails are enabled.

Nothing is deleted. Clear the date and republish to bring a listing back.

Site settings

Settings → General:

SettingPurpose
Enable listing expiryMaster switch, on by default
Listing expiry warningHow many days ahead the admin badge turns amber (default 14, max 90)
Listing expiry emailsSend an email when a listing expires
Expiry email: site adminNotify the site admin address
Expiry email: assigned consultantNotify the listing’s consultant
Expiry email: additional recipientsComma-separated extra addresses

The email subject is Listing expired: {title} and the body links straight to the listing for editing.

Admin badges

The Properties list shows the state at a glance — Expires today, Expires in N days, Expired (still published) — so a rental board stays accurate without anyone auditing it manually.

You cannot publish a listing whose expiry date is already in the past; clear or extend the date first.

Open house

An open house is a scheduled viewing published on the listing.

Turn it on for a listing

In Listing details → Consultant & marketing, enable Open house, then set Date, Start, and End. Available on residential and commercial listings.

That produces:

  • The Property Open House notice block on the listing page
  • An open-house badge on listing cards, from a configurable lead time before the event
  • The Open house label term, applied and removed automatically
  • The Open house filter chip on the property archive

Site settings

Settings → General:

SettingPurpose
Enable open houseMaster switch for the whole feature
Open house badge lead timeHow many days before the event the badge appears

Turn the master switch off and the filter chip and badges disappear site-wide, without touching listing data.

Do not add or remove the Open house label by hand — the schedule owns it, and a manual edit is overwritten on the next sync.

Scheduled jobs

Both features run on WordPress cron, which fires on site traffic. On a very quiet site, expiry can lag by a few hours. If timing matters, ask your host to run a real cron job against wp-cron.php on a schedule.
