Search & favorites

Instant search suggestions, the header search modal, saved searches, and the favorites page.

Instant search

EstatePoint’s search bar suggests as visitors type. It appears in four places, all backed by the same suggestions:

Suggestions start after two characters and are grouped:

• Locations — matching location terms
• Property types — matching type terms
• Properties — matching listings by title and content

Picking a suggestion goes straight to that listing or a filtered archive. Pressing enter runs a full search on the archive.

The Any / Buy / Rent tabs narrow suggestions to the matching status before the visitor even submits.

Header search modal

With header search enabled, the search action opens a modal over the page. Keyboard shortcut (Ctrl/Cmd+K) adds the shortcut power users expect, and Show search in mobile menu puts a search row in the mobile drawer.

Saved searches

Visitors can save a filtered browse page and return to it. The control sits in the browse and map toolbars — Save this search — and saved entries appear under Saved.

Each entry stores the full filtered URL with a generated label, up to ten per browser. No account is required: they live in the visitor’s browser, not on your server. Clearing browser data clears them.

Toggle the controls per template with Show saved search controls on the archive widget.

Favorites

The heart on listing cards, map pin cards, and listing pages saves a property. A counter in the header shows how many are saved.

Favorites are stored in the visitor’s browser, so they work without registration — and, like saved searches, do not follow the visitor to another device.

Set up the favorites page

The header favorites action needs somewhere to link to:

1. Pages → Add New, title it Favorites (or whatever you prefer).
2. Set the page Template to EstatePoint — Favorites.
3. Publish.

For an Elementor-composed version, use the Archive — Favorites widget on the page instead. Demo import creates this page for you.

Blog search

Blog archives have their own search: the Sidebar — Blog search widget for a sidebar, or the standard WordPress search form. It searches posts, not listings — property search runs through the archive.

Tuning search results

Property suggestions match listing titles and content. If a listing is hard to find, the fix is usually content rather than configuration:

• Put the neighborhood or building name in the title.
• Assign the deepest Location term, not just the country.
• Set Property type — it is one of the three suggestion groups.
• Mention distinguishing terms in the description; the properties group searches it.
